Pharmaceutical Packaging Formats
From primary blister/vial to retail carton and shipper — every pharma format on validated equipment.
Capsule Blister Packing Solutions
Three configurations covering hard gelatin high-volume, soft gelatin specialty, and combination capsule+tablet flexibility.
Hard Capsule PVC/Alu Blister Machine
Hard Gelatin & HPMC Capsules · Pharma / Nutraceutical · 200–350 Blisters/Min
The standard for hard gelatin and vegetarian capsule blister packing — PVC/Alu thermoform with capsule-specific feeding. Vibratory orientation feeder ensures every capsule is body-down in the pocket (proper presentation for the patient when blister is opened). 100% vision inspection of orientation + presence. Gentle pneumatic placement avoids shell cracking on hard capsules.
Softgel Alu/Alu Cold-Form Blister
Soft Gelatin Capsules · Fish Oil · Vitamin E · CoQ10 · Fat-Soluble Pharmaceuticals
Cold-form Alu/Alu blister for softgels — the gold standard for oxidation-sensitive fish oil, vitamin E, and fat-soluble drug formulations. Cold-formed aluminum laminate provides total moisture and oxygen barrier essential for softgel content stability. Gentle vacuum-cup pickplace prevents shell deformation common with rough handling.
Combination Capsule/Tablet Blister Platform
Multi-Product Pharma · Capsule + Tablet SKUs Mixed · CMO Flexibility
Flexible blister platform supporting BOTH capsules (any type) AND tablets on the same machine — change format set and feeder in 90 minutes. Ideal for pharma manufacturers and CMOs running mixed capsule + tablet product portfolios. Common machine controls, shared FAT/SAT, single operator skill base across all SKUs.
Complete Pharma Packaging Line
From primary blister/vial to serialized, leafleted, cased retail unit — fully validated under GMP.
Common Challenges in Capsule Blister Packing
Customization & Validation Capabilities
Pharma machines aren't bought — they're validated. We supply full IQ/OQ/PQ documentation, 21 CFR Part 11 compliant controls, and serialization integration as standard.
GMP-compliant, validated, serialization-ready
Every pharma machine ships with full design qualification documentation, material certificates, electrical schematics, and IQ/OQ protocol templates. Track-and-trace serialization (GS1 DataMatrix, parent-child aggregation) is built in, not bolted on.
Send us your product sample — we'll size the machine to your exact recipe, viscosity, particle size, and target container.

Capsule Brand Success Stories
Real results from hard capsule pharma manufacturers, softgel specialists, and HPMC vegan supplement brands.

Indian Manufacturer Cuts Capsule Crack-Loss from 3% to 0.1%
An Indian generic pharma manufacturer was losing 3% of hard gelatin capsules to shell cracking during mechanical pickplace — about $180K/year in scrap. Replacing the mechanical pusher with vacuum-cup pneumatic placement cut shell-crack rejects to 0.1%, recovering the vast majority of that loss.

Norwegian Fish Oil Brand Extends Softgel Shelf to 36 Months
A Norwegian premium fish oil brand was getting customer complaints about softgels sticking together by month 18 — PVC barrier wasn't preventing plasticizer migration. Switching to Alu/Alu cold-form blister extended verified stability to 36 months, supporting longer distribution channels and higher-margin export markets.

US Vegan Brand Wins Retail with HPMC Capsule Quality
A US plant-based supplement brand expanding into mainstream retail (Whole Foods, Sprouts) needed pharmaceutical-grade blister presentation for HPMC vegetarian capsules. Vision-verified body-down orientation + premium card design + tamper-evident perforations secured the retail listings against established competitors.
Frequently Asked Questions
What buyers most often ask before purchasing.
How does the capsule orientation feeder work?
Vibratory bowl feeder pre-sorts capsules into a single-file track. The orientation station uses a profile detector (mechanical or optical) to identify body vs. cap end of each capsule. Mis-oriented capsules are diverted to a return loop and re-fed. Properly oriented capsules drop into the blister pocket body-down (the standard pharma presentation when patient opens the blister). Vision then verifies orientation in the pocket before seal. Result: <0.05% mis-oriented capsules in finished product.
Can the machine handle softgels and hard capsules on the same line?
Yes — but with format change. Softgels and hard capsules have very different shapes (softgel is typically oval/oblong, hard capsule is cylindrical with rounded ends). Different blister pocket geometry, different feeder channels, different vision tuning. Format change between softgel and hard capsule SKUs is typically 90 minutes including cleaning. Both capsule types share the same machine platform and controls.
Are HPMC vegetarian capsules handled differently than gelatin?
HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) capsules are slightly more rigid than gelatin but otherwise handle similarly on our equipment. Same orientation feeder, same blister pocket size, same vision inspection. The main difference is at the cellulose-supplier level — HPMC capsules from different suppliers vary slightly in dimensions, so we test your specific capsule supplier during sample trial to verify the feeder channel and pocket fit. Equipment-side, no special accommodation needed.
What about color-coded capsules with body and cap in different colors?
Common in pharma for product differentiation (e.g., red body + white cap for one strength, green body + white cap for another). Our vision system tunes to verify both body color AND cap color are correct in each pocket — auto-rejects mismatched or flipped capsules. For high-stakes prescription products we also recommend an additional color verification at carton-pack stage as defense-in-depth.
Why Alu/Alu for softgels specifically?
Softgels contain a liquid or semi-solid fill (typically oils — fish oil, vitamin E, CoQ10, fat-soluble drug formulations). The oil migrates plasticizer out of the gelatin shell over time, causing softgels to stick together or harden. PVC barrier slows this but doesn't stop it. Alu/Alu cold-form provides a complete barrier — no plasticizer loss, no oxygen penetration, no light. Extends softgel stability typically 18 months → 36 months. Worth the additional cost for premium softgel brands.
Do you support liquid-filled hard capsules (LFHC)?
Yes — LFHC is a growing category where liquid or semi-solid fill is dosed into a sealed hard gelatin or HPMC capsule. The sealed capsule handles like any hard capsule on the blister machine (same orientation, same vision, same pocket). The liquid-filling and sealing is upstream — we can refer you to capsule-filling equipment suppliers we partner with for that part of the process if not already in place.
What's the typical changeover time between capsule sizes?
Size change (e.g., size 0 to size 2): 60–90 minutes including feeder channel change, pocket tooling change, PLC recipe load, and brief test run. Quick-change tooling is supplied with the machine for each capsule size you specify at order. PLC recipe storage saves all parameters (orientation thresholds, vision tuning, fill speed) per SKU. After a few cycles the operator changeover skill builds and 90 minutes is achievable consistently.
Can you supply complete capsule pharma lines?
Yes — typical complete capsule pharma line: capsule polishing → blister machine → checkweigher → cartoner with leaflet insertion → tamper-seal → case packer (with aggregation) → palletizer. All synchronized via unified PLC. We partner with capsule-filling equipment OEMs for the upstream filling and sealing step if needed. Single point of accountability for the secondary packaging from capsule polishing to palletized case.
